Advent Thought – The Promise never to Abandon You

“But Zion (Jerusalem in captivity) said, “The Lord has abandoned me, And my Lord has forgotten me.” The Lord answered “Can a woman forget her nursing child And have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, but I will not forget you”. Isaiah 49: 14-15

There is a lie from Satan that has infected our view of God. This lie has rooted and established itself in our alienation from him. It is the lie that God does not want us. And this lie causes us to doubt God’s commitment to us, it causes us to withdraw from him and it causes us to feel abandoned in our hearts.

Here God declares the truth of his closeness to his people, his sustaining compassion in the turmoil of despair. His promise is that he will never abandon them, that he will never forget his promises to them and that he will never leave them or forsake them.

God’s commitment is that he is close, present, right with them, accepting them, guiding them and upholding them with his love.

Jesus Christ is the embodiment of that promise, here is God, alive in flesh reconciling man back to God, destroying the alienation of our minds. He is the living breath of God, the goodness of God, the mercy and compassion of God shining into the darkness of the world.

The promise of Christ is that God’s compassion is his radiant embrace that declares he has never abandoned us, that regardless of our feelings and thoughts, he is totally committed to us.

For we are his treasure, the delight and desire of his heart.

Advent Thought – The Promise of the Favourable time.

“This is what the Lord says, “In a favourable time I have answered You, And in a day of salvation I have helped You; And I will keep watch over You and give You for a covenant of the people, To restore the land [from its present state of ruin] and to apportion and give as inheritances the deserted hereditary lands, “ – Isaiah 49:8

The good news of the birth of the saviour is that we have been placed into the perpetual season of the favour of God. That the plan of God was to bestow upon us the restoration and wholeness that we lost and our ruin has been superseded by heavens prosperity.

And this promise of the favourable season contains that life giving fruit of creation. To bring and give us knowledge of salvation, to give us forgiveness and remission of sin, to place inside of us God’s heart of tender mercy and loving-kindness, and to draw our life and light from the power that indwells us.

No longer do we have to be influenced by the fluctuation of seasons, the pressure of circumstance, for In Christ we are constantly in God’s favour.

And this favour means that we are held in an everlasting embrace, kept by Christ’s indestructible life, filled with his unconditional love, and showered with unloseable grace.

For the promise of Christ is to heal the broken hearted, to set the captive free, to declare the favourable time of the Lord and to know the acceptance, value and love of a good God.

Christ Has Delivered Us.

“For we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and your love for all of God’s people, which come from your confident hope of what God has reserved for you in heaven. You have had this expectation ever since you first heard the truth of the Good News.” – Colossians 1:4-5

The truth of the Good News is that Christ has delivered us from the captivity and oppression of a life without love.

The truth of God revealed in Jesus was that he came as the full expression of God. That God entered our world to experience the full range of our emotions, and to show us what it was to live with the tenderness of an open heart .

The truth revealed in Jesus was the bridge that closed the gap between the imperfection of our humanness and the perfection of God.

For God never rejected us, God never gave up on us, God was never separated from us and God never stopped pouring his love out on us.

It was mankind that believed the lie of shame and doubted the goodness of God. It was mankind that separated from God and chose their own idols.

Jesus came and revealed God’s truth. Jesus died as a sacrifice in the truth. Jesus rose from the dead as a demonstration of God’s truth.

The truth proclaimed by Jesus is that all who come to him will never thirst again and out of their hearts will flow rivers of living water.

One That is All.

“For through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made all things we can see and all things we can’t see – such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him.” – Colossians 1:16

God is that which is bigger than anything we could imagine or comprehend. God in Christ is the One That Is All.

The infinite creativity that designed and formed the universe, that placed each galaxy and star in the sky is now placed and unlocked into the heart of every believer. For in each believer dwells the fullness of Christ.

We are the delight of God’s heart, and it is through his union with each one of us that God celebrates his own joyful existence.

For God who is complete has formed his completeness inside the heart of his creation.

And God who expressed his joy in creating us has released each one of us from oppression into the freedom of expression. In Christ we are now free to express the unlimited nature of Christ alive within our spirit.

We have been made New Creations in Christ as an expression of God’s love and beauty to celebrate the freedom of his grace and love.

Creations beauty is now alive within our hearts.

The desire that sparked the universe into life is a light within every child of God.

The greatest thing we could ever do is to receive it, believe it and delight in it.

How We See God

“Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation.”- Colossians 1:15

How we see God is crucial to what kind of world we live in.

God has revealed to us his true nature in Christ. God is found in Christ.

To know God is to know Christ.

To know Christ is to acknowledge all good things he has given to you by his grace and to awaken your heart to the life of Christ alive inside you.

Christ’s life is there resting in you inside every experience you have. For Christ resides in the heart of every action, every thought, every feeling and every breath.

Recognizing the life of Christ that animates each moment brings God alive in us and transforms our daily existence. It brings heaven down to earth.

One In Christ.

“In this new life, it doesn’t matter if you are a Jew or a Gentile, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbaric, uncivilised, slave, or free. Christ is all that matters, and he lives in all of us.” – Colossians 3:11

The amazing truth is that every believer has Christ alive inside of them. That every believer is now a manifestation of God to the world. That the glory of God dwells amongst mankind in the heart of each believer.

It is the realisation of this truth that has the power to change the world.

When we start to see the risen Christ in each of us all separation dissolves. When you see beyond gender, race, class, wealth, job-title or any other label, all boundaries evaporate and you find yourselves united to each other in Christ.

You find your name in Christ and your name is a new name written in his blood and carved on his hands. Your nature is now his nature because your ancestry goes back and starts at Christ it no longer starts with Adam.

You are birthed from the seed of your true father, in everlasting love and eternal acceptance. Your value is a high as the heavens and as deep as the uncharted oceans.

In Christ you stand complete in all He won for you at the cross.

In Christ you stand on the brink of endless possibilities.

For the resurrection power within you has the power to transform you from one degree of glory to another degree of glory and to transform the world around you.

Christ Alive In Us.

“That’s why I work and struggle so hard, depending on Christ’s mighty power that works within me.” – Colossians 1:29

The belief that we are small and powerless in the face of life is a lie that has kept us asleep for thousands of years.

God is shouting at us, he is crying out to us, declaring to us to wake up to the full glory of our New Creation spirit living in our hearts.

We need to stop believing that someone else has the answer and actually start to believe that Christ’s mighty power works within us.

Who we are In Christ and all he has given to us by grace has been placed into our hands for us to take and let God work through us.

Admist all the chaos of the world we live in. Admist all the chaos of philosophy and man made strategy. Admist the onslaught of evil. There is a people who have been delivered from the world’s oppression and have been given the message of reconciliation.

For we carry the opportunity and the message for creation’s liberation.

Christ alive in us is the message of eternal redemption and divine connection. Christ alive in us is the power to bring light into the darkness. Christ alive in us is the victory of the cross declaring that Christ has defeated death.

The Secret of History

“And this is the secret. Christ lives in you. This gives you assurance of sharing his glory.” – Colossians 1:27

There has been a radical shift in you.

You are a New Creation in Christ.

You have been transformed from a life of separation to one of unity.

God by the Holy Spirit has come to dwell within your heart . You have been reborn into new life and the fullness of Christ has been planted into you.

Every trace of your sin nature has been destroyed. You are New Creation, you are now Holy and righteous in Christ and Christ lives in you.

The divine inheritance of the cross of all God planned and purposed you to be has been given to you in Christ.

And part of God’s plan and purpose was to create heaven on earth through you. God’s glory would radiate in you and creation would be made complete through you.

The secret of history, of all of creation is that Christ has come to live in you. That heaven has taken up residence in you. That through you everything lost can now be reclaimed.

For each of us reborn as New Creation’s in Christ we need to wake up from the slumber of our old disconnected nature and connect with the glory and grace of God alive in our hearts.

We need to awaken our hearts to the reality of Christ living inside us, in his fullness and live our lives as sons and daughter’s of the living God.

His Grace is Sufficent

Christ has taken you and placed you into his everlasting blessings. You have been given the place of highest honour at His banquet of finest delights. He says drink my wine of healing, eat the my fruit of goodness and receive wholeness and restoration to your soul and body.

His grace is sufficent for you. Sufficent to heal you, sufficent to set you free from oppression and captivity, sufficent to release you from all guilt and condemnation.

Today you are blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ. His grace is overflowing to you and it is more than sufficent to do exceedingly, abundantly above all could ask or think according to the power that is working within you.
